Anthony Joshua reveals new diet plan for his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr as he considers leaving out Pounded Yam (Photos)

 

Former heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has readjusted his diet plan for his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr., who recently defeated him to emerge as the first Mexican-American heavyweight world champion. 

Andy Ruiz Jr. knocked down Joshua four times before the underdog Ruiz was awarded a technical knockout at the Madison Square Garden on Saturday, June 1, 2019.

Now a rematch has been confirmed to take place in November or December with the venue yet to be announced.

Taking to his Instagram stories, the British-Nigerian boxer showed off different meals and revealed he is readjusting his diet plan for his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr.

He also disclosed in another post that he's considering dropping Pounded Yam.

On Tuesday, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, confirmed that Anthony Joshua has triggered the immediate rematch clause in his contract, after his shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr.

Ruiz is set for a £10million payday, which is approximately double the purse he netted for one of the greatest upsets in the sport’s history, according to SportsMail.

The terms were written into the deal ahead of the first fight at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

Under that agreement, it is understood Joshua will also call the shots over the location second bout.

Ruiz, who is the new IBF, WBA and WBO champion, had suggested his native Mexico.

With November or December identified for the rematch, it is possible the fight will take place under the roof at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

However, if the Joshua team opts to forego home advantage for the sake of restoring his reputation in the US, Madison Square Garden bosses are keen to stage the second bout.

Newly-crowned world champion, Andy Ruiz Jr, 29, will only get £5million after his historic win against Anthony Joshua, 29,  at Madison Square Garden over the weekend.

The Mexican boxer knocked down the British/Nigerian boxer four times, before forcing a seventh-round stoppage to dethrone the WBA, WBO and IBF champion and became the first Mexican-American heavyweight world champion. 

The upset was arguably the biggest within the division since Hasim Rahman stopped Lennox Lewis in 2001 and brought back memories of James "Buster" Douglas' 1990 win over Mike Tyson. But it is Joshua who will earn a bigger share of the fight purse. 

According to Mail Online, Joshua will earn £20million from the deal agreed before the fight in New York.

Former world heavyweight boxing champion, Mike Tyson has again doubted the pedigree of Nigerian-born British boxer, Anthony Joshua.

Joshua became the WBO, IBF and WBA (Super) champion recently.

Joshua defeated Joseph Parker on points in his first 12-round fight as a pro on March 31.

Although Joshua, 28, won virtually every round against Parker, but his display was criticised by other boxers such as Tyson, Fury, who described the unification fight as abysmal.

Mike Tyson said Joshua’s performance fell flat and admitted he was not so convinced by the Briton’s credentials.

Mike Tyson told Showtime, “Joshua looked like he was the guy to (become undisputed champion) but in his last fight, he did not impress me.

“(Deontay) Wilder is improving, he’s getting better.”

Joshua is now on the hunt to secure the final major world title, with WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
