1. A group of lawmakers drawn from various parties are heading to court over alleged proof of vote-buying and gross impunity by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Sani Omolori.

Omolori, who supervised the June 11 election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the House of Representatives, is being accused of having condoned impunity among the lawmakers.

2. The Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency listen to the advice of former President Olusegun Obasanjo on how to move the nation forward and halt the numerous crises bedeviling the country.

Speaking with newsmen in Jos, the Plateau State capital, the National Chairman of the group, Alhaji Sale Bayari, said the present administration ought to listen to other eminent Nigerians too in solving the nation’s problems, but that from the signs he is getting, things are not in order.

4. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised automatic employment to corps members who performed exceptionally well as ad hoc staff during the 2019 General Elections.

The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made the promise on Monday in Abuja at the presentation of kits with laptops and phones by the European Union (EU) to outstanding corps members who participated in the 2019 Elections.

5. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has accused Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State, of persecuting Muslim students in the institution.

Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, claimed the University forces Muslim students to attend church on Sundays and also making it mandatory for students living in the hostel to attend church every Wednesday and Saturday.

6. Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba, on Monday night, imposed curfew on Jalingo following fresh outbreak of crisis in some communities in Kona and ATC areas, near Jalingo.

According to the Governor, the curfew will run from 4:00 pm to 6:00 am daily till further notice.

7. UNICEF, on Monday, condemned the use of children as suicide bombers in Nigeria.

The UN body said several reports suggest that three children – two girls and a boy (ages unknown) – were used to detonate explosives that killed 30 people and injured 40 others at a community football viewing centre in Konduga, Borno on Monday.

8. Ibrahim Thiaw, Executive Secretary of UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), said on Monday that degradation and competition over access to land and water may cause war in Nigeria.

The UNCCD head said that growing population with growing demand on resources, coupled with Climate Change and reduction of available land resources, were root causes of most of the bloody conflicts.

9. The Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it is set to commence tracking of its first phase of constituency projects in 12 states.

Members of the Steering Committee for the initiative included Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), Budget Office of the Federation, and Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

10. Nigeria was defeated 1-0 by France, in their final Group A fixture at the ongoing Women’s World Cup.

However, having held on for most of the game, the African champions conceded a penalty in the 75th minute.

1. Former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, has raised the alarm of plot to arrest him. This was contained in a statement by his spokesman, Paul Ibe, on Sunday. It said due to Atiku’s insistence that a server was used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), his enemies attribute a false comment on “mass protest” to him to prepare the ground for his incarceration.

2. Meanwhile, the International Center For Investigative Reporting, ICIR, has released some fresh revelations about the controversy on whether the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, actually has a server or not. ICIR released an unconfirmed document, which claimed that the electoral body has budgetary provisions for Servers, e-collation and e-tracking of election results in 2019 INEC election budget.

3. At least 14 people have been confirmed dead and 38 others seriously injured following a suicide bomb attack at Mandareri-Sambisa ward of Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State. Residents of the area said two suicide bombers attacked the community few minutes past 8 in the night of Sunday.

4. An Appeal Court sitting in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, has granted victory to Governor Emeka Ihedioha in a suit filed against his emergence as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election. His challenger, Sam Anyanwu had approached the court to nullify the victory of the governor. But in the judgement, Justice Raphael Chikwe Agbo ruled that the plaintiff did not convince the court on the prayers he sought. The judge, therefore, dismissed the suit for lack of proof.

5. The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the European Union (EU) on its final report on the 2019 general elections. Reacting, the party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, on Sunday in Abuja lauded the union for stating the facts on the elections. He said that the fresh revelation in the EU report further vindicated the position of PDP and millions of Nigerians on the elections. Ologbondiyan noted that the revelations of manipulations as detailed in the EU report further validates queries by majority of Nigerians on the elections.

6. The Police Command in Zamfara has confirmed the killing of 34 persons following an attack on Friday in Tungar Kafau and Gidan Wawa communities in Shinkafi Local Government Areas of the State. The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Muhammad Shehu said this in a statement in Gusau on Sunday.

7. The Governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has told his predecessor, Rochas Okorocha, to shut up and return all government property and money, he and members of his family allegedly siphoned. Okorocha was advised to toe the path of honour instead of indulging in reckless utterances and blackmail gimmicks against Ihedioha. This was contained in a statement on Sunday in Owerri, the State capital by Chief of Staff to Governor Ihedioha, Barr Chris Okewulonu.

8. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed state governments across the Northwest to pursue an urgent revamp of the national security apparatus in the subregion. A statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, said the partnership followed the infiltration of bandits into areas that were hitherto secure. Shehu quoted President Buhari as expressing sorrow over the renewed attacks and extended his sympathies to the governments and people of Sokoto and Zamfara states.

9. The O’dua Peoples Congress, OPC, has warned kidnappers and herdsmen engaged in criminal activities in parts of the South-West to stop or incur their wrath. OPC gave the warning in a statement issued in Lagos at the weekend by its President  Aare Prince Osibote. He warned kidnappers and herdsmen to stop their criminal activities in the South-West or they will be forced to vacate.

10. Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has called for the probe of a claim that a Gorilla allegedly swallowing N6.8million in Kano Zoological Gardens. Ganduje ordered the State Anti-Corruption Commission to probe the missing N6.8m. The order was given in a statement issued by Abba Anwar, Chief Press Secretary to Gov Ganduje. The statement added that Ganduje also asked the Commission to look into the immediate and remote cause of the allegation, directing them to unearth everything surrounding the incident.

1. One of the major contenders for the position of the Senate President in the incoming ninth National Assembly, Senator Ali Ndume, has assured that he would not step down for Senate Leader Ahmad Lawan (APC, Yobe) even if invited to Aso Rock.

On why he cannot withdraw from the race, Ndume said “stepping down at this period will be disastrous to my political career and it’s not necessary because there’s no one and convincing reason for me to stepdown.”

2. President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Tanko Muhammad, on the appointment of additional five Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The President wrote: ‘‘Pursuant to the provisions of Section 230(2) A&B of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I am pleased to request that you initiate in earnest the process of appointing additional five Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria to make the full complement of 21 Justices as provided by the aforementioned provisions of the Constitution.”

3. Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State on Sunday attended the funeral of 25 persons killed by bandits in a fresh attack which occurred on Saturday in three communities in Rabah local government area of the state.

Report had it that the bandits had in large numbers, raided Kalhu, Tsage and Geeri villages near Gandi and killed 25 persons.

4. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of dozens of people in the banditry attacks which occurred on Saturday in three communities in Rabah Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto State.

The President, who was briefed about the incident and the arrests so far made by the Police, condoled with Governor Aminu Tambuwal and the people of the State over the tragic incident.

5. Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have backed the candidacy of Senate Leader, Sen. Ahmad Lawan and Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila for the ninth National Assembly leadership.

Governor of Kebbi, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu and Chairman of the Forum while briefing newsmen at the end of meeting, said the governors took the decision in compliance with the directive of the party’s national leadership.

6. Hon. Ned Nwoko, husband of the sensational Nollywood star, Regina Daniels, was on Sunday denied accreditation by the management of the National Assembly.

The Delta-born politician was the first and earliest caller at the National Assembly complex on Sunday for documentation, ahead of Tuesday’s inauguration ceremony, but was, however, turned down by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Chief Mohammed Sani-Omolori.

7. The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, on Sunday condemned claims that President Muhammadu Buhari is out to Islamise Nigeria.

AYCF insisted that such allegation was unfounded and unrealistic.

8. Apex Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere has issued strong warning to Fulani herdsmen dwelling in the Southwest region.

Afenifere said it welcomes the decision of Governors in the region to do something over the siege on Yorubaland by Fulani militia masquerading as herdsmen.

9. The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against marginalising Christians in the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary arm of government during his second term.

It warned that the plots to undermine national unity by ensuring that only Muslims head all the branches of the central government started when Buhari’s administration instigated the “kangaroo trial resulting in the removal of Justice Walter Onnoghen, the only Christian to have held the position of Chief justice of Nigeria in 30 years over some phantomand substantially forged allegations.”

10. President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted Justice Walter Onnoghen’s voluntary retirement from service, as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, who confirmed this via his verified Twitter handle, noted that Onnoghen’s retirement is effective from May 28, 2019.

1. Abubakar Shekau, factional leader of the Boko Haram sect, has mocked Nigeria and its national pledge. He called it “shirk” which in Islam means the sin of idolatry or worshipping of anyone or anything besides the singular God. In excerpts posted on Twitter on Tuesday, Ahmad Salkida, an investigative journalist close to the sect, said Shekau was seen in the video clutching an AK 47 rifle as he read a prepared speech in Arabic about the doctrines of the insurgents.

2. The sum of £211,000,000 has been seized from a Jersey bank account that belonged to Nigeria’s former military ruler, General Sani Abacha. The money through the US into the Channel Islands was put in accounts held in Jersey by Doraville Properties Corporation, a British Virgin Islands company. The money will remain with authorities in Jersey until the US and Nigeria come to an agreement on how it should be distributed.

3. The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has denied recent reports in which it was quoted as threatening to soon attack the five South-eastern state of the country over the purported stubbornness of their governors. The chairman of the group in the South-East, AIh. Gidado Sidikki, who briefed journalists in Awka during a short prayer to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration for Muslims in the city, said that the reports ascribed to him, in which he was quoted to have said that states of the South-east zone would be attacked by herders, were blatant falsehood.

4. Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amb. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande has emerged President of the 74th UN General Assembly. Muhammad-Bande, the sole candidate for the position, was elected through acclamation at the 87th plenary meeting of the Assembly in New York on Tuesday. He is the second Nigerian to hold the office after Joseph Garba. He will be inaugurated in September.

5. The Chief Cyril Ogodo-led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the Supreme Court to determine who is the Delta Central Senatorial district candidate between incumbent Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Olorogun O’tega Emerhor. This follows the Appeal Court’s ruling in a judgment delivered by Justice Jimi Olukayode Bada, Chidi Nwaoma Uwa and Muhammed L.Shuaibu on May 19th which set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court, Asaba Division which had earlier upheld the Ogodo-led Executive Committee as the authentic leadership of the party in Delta State.

6. Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has claimed that the players were happy to have captain John Mikel Obi back in the squad. Mikel Obi, who is currently without a club, has not featured for Nigeria since the 2018 World Cup in Russia. However, the midfielder is in camp, ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations this month. Describing Mikel Obi’s integration back into the team as “natural”, Rohr said, “the players are happy to see him and he has been working very hard.”

Former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former Ondo State Military Administrator, Chief Olabode George, has revealed that the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State in the last election, Jimi Agbaje, has joined the All Progress Congress, APC. George also revealed that Agbaje failed in the last election because ‘he thinks he knows it all’, adding that it was Lagos people that worked against him.

8. The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos Metropolitan See, Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, has outlined his reasons the recent claim made by former President Olusegun Obasanjo about alleged Fulanization of Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari may become a reality. Okogie questioned the leadership of President Buhari while lamenting that “the security situation in Nigeria has become worse than deplorable.” The cleric noted that Nigeria was being attacked; wondering if this was how the citizens will be watching while the country becomes more inhabitable than it has ever been in her history.

9. Mike Ozekhome, a senior lawyer in the legal team of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, has set an agenda for President Muhammadu Buhari, as he begins his second term in office. In a statement on Tuesday, Ozekhome called on Buhari to be more nationalistic in his approach to governance. He also asked the president to “quickly take Nigeria out of the social, economic and political doldrums he and his APC government have provided.

1. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has rejected claims that he was against the granting of autonomy to local governments.

Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, said that the governor was surprised at the allegation which he described as “a misrepresentation” of his reaction to a statement credited to the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).

2. The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi on Sunday urged Christians not to attack the President of the country through any means.

Kumuyi, who gave the admonition during his sermon at the Deeper Life Bible Church, Headquarters, Gbagada, in Lagos said that real Christians must obey constituted authorities and shun violence.

3. Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election, has petitioned the Court of Appeal over what he called a deliberate ploy, to truncate the constitutional timeline of the presidential election petition before the Tribunal.

According to him, the Tribunal has a timeline to prosecute the petitions, adding that 76 days have already been expended out of the 180 days allowed by law, as seen in Section 134 (2) and (3) of the Electoral Act (2010 as amended).

4. Chief John Odigie Oyegun, the immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that his successor, Adams Oshiomhole, lacks capacity to manage a political party.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Public Affairs Adviser, Chief Ray Morphy, Oyegun described it as “ludicrous and infantile and an attempt to dream up justification for the failings of the party under Oshiomhole chairmanship”.

5. A support group of the All Progressives Congress, APC Support Core, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately relieve the nation’s service chiefs of their jobs.

The group said the sack of the service chiefs had become imperative to pave way for the injection of fresh ideas into the country’s security architecture.

6. Satguru Maharaj Ji, the founder of the One Love Family sect, has said that familiar and highly notorious western imperialists are ganging up against the President Muhammadu Buhari government.

He said that President Buhari needs the support of all Nigerians to salvage the economy.

7. Senator representing Kogi West District in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has declared his intention to contest the Kogi governorship election scheduled for November 16.

Melaye, reportedly made the declaration on Saturday during a meeting of Kogi West PDP executives held yesterday at his country home in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu local government area of the state.

8. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), has arrested a 48-year-old pastor in Abuja for alleged rape and sexual exploitation of a 16-year-old orphan.

NAPTIP’s Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, Stella Nezan, alleged that the suspect, a pastor in the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Church (MFM), Gwarinpa branch, impregnated his victim in the process.

9. President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday returned to Nigeria, after attending the 14th summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Makkah.

The presidential aircraft conveying the president and members of his entourage left the Jeddah airport for Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 2:45pm local time.

10. Nigeria will take on Senegal in the 2019 U-20 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 on Monday night.

The encounter is scheduled to kickoff at 7.30pm (West African Time).

1. The Nigerian National Assembly has released stringent guidelines for fresh media accreditation.

In a guideline released by the management on Monday and signed by the Director of Information, Mr. Emmanuel Rawlings Agada, the NASS requested for fresh application letter from journalists intending to cover the plenary.

2. The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday met with President Muhammadu Buhari in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Garba Shehu, Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, quoted Tinubu as appealing to elderly Nigerians to avoid inflammatory statements, that could undermine peaceful co-existence among the nation’s diverse communities.

3. The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has cautioned a certain Southwest political leader and his collaborators in the APC-led Federal Government to steer clear of Senate President, Bukola Saraki and jettison the new plot to unleash EFCC and other anti-corruption agencies in order to intimidate him.

They accused the Lagos-based political leader of the Southwest and some of his cronies in the corridors of power of planning to embarrass Senate President Bukola Saraki using the government’s anti-corruption agencies and based on politically-motivated charges.

4. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo North senatorial district has vowed to resist alleged attempts by the Edo State government to tarnish the image of the party’s national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Leaders of the party in the senatorial district urged the State governor, Godwin Obaseki, to call his media team to order, alleging that they had embarked on campaign of calumny against Oshiomhole, with a view to joining his political opponents across the nation in scandalizing his name.

5. The Chairman, Kaduna State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Joseph Hayab, on Monday said the abductors of a pastor and 14 others at ECWA Church, Dankade, have reached out to the families of the victims demanding for N30 million ransom.

Hayab confirmed that the kidnappers immediately switched off their phone after presenting their demand.

6. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has approved the immediate withdrawal of Certificate of Recognition and staff of office from His Royal Majesty, Chief Frank Noryaa, Gbenemene Baabe.

According to Wike, the withdrawal of government’s recognition from HRM Noryaa followed his alleged indictment on cult-related activities within his kingdom.

7. Rep. Yusuf Buba (APC-Adamawa) on Monday announced that he is withdrawing from the race for 9th Assembly Speakership to support the candidature of Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila (APC-Lagos).

The lawmaker said it was in the spirit of fair play that he decided to step down, given that the APC had zoned the office of the Senate President to the North East.

8. The Oyo state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed an application filed by Mr Adebayo Adelabu, governorship candidate of the APC to recount all the ballot papers used in the March 9 election.

Delivering his ruling on Monday, the three-man panel, chaired by Justice Sirajo Muhammed, dismissed the application, adding that it would jeopardise the respondents’ right to fair hearing.

9. Suspected Fulani herdsmen have allegedly killed a 35-year-old farmer, Mr. Ariyo Aina, on his way to the farm at Ogga community, in Yagba West Council of Kogi State.

National president of Ogga Progressive Union (OPU) Mr. Bamidele Olure, told journalists yesterday in Lokoja that Aina was murdered on Saturday.

10. Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley was, on Monday, arraigned at the Federal High Court in Lagos and subsequently remanded in prison custody over an alleged credit card fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged him with 11-counts before Justice Nicolas Oweibo, but he, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges when read to him.

1. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday said it was not aware of the alleged seal-off of houses believed to belong to President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki. Acting Head, Media and Publicity of the commission, Mr Tony Orilade, told newsmen on Monday that he was unaware of the issue.

2. Some aviation unions have given the Federal Government a seven-day ultimatum to review the newly-approved organogram for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) by the Federal Ministry of Transportation. The unions, which issued the ultimatum on Monday, during a peaceful protest at the NCAA Headquarters in Lagos, vowed to embark on a warning strike if their demands were not met.

3. African Action Congress (AAC) National Executive Committee (NEC) has explained that it removed Omoyele Sowore as National Chairman of the party for alleged corruption. The party also confirmed the installation of Dr. Leonard Nzenwa as the Acting National Chairman. Comrade Oladele Ade, Acting Director Communication, in a statement said Dr Nzenwa was until March 27 the National Secretary of the party. The party recalled that at its second NEC meeting in Abuja, Sowore and nine other NEC members of the party were accused of corruption and anti-party activities.

4. The Association of Resident Doctors, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Awka branch, has embarked on an indefinite strike over poor conditions of service. Dr. Obinna Aniagboso, Chairman of the branch, announced this in a statement on Monday in Awka, Anambra State capital. He said the strike was caused by the inability of the Anambra Government to honour the agreement it signed with the body on Jan. 17, during its warning strike.

5. Two persons reportedly died in a flood after a heavy rainfall in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital. The victims, a man and woman, were discovered in a gutter along Atiku Abubakar lane by GWT fuel station in Uyo after the rain that started at about 5:30 pm on Sunday. A witness said the unidentified victims, who were found dead inside the gutter on Monday morning were not residents of the area. She stated that residents of the area called the police who promptly responded and took the corpses away.

6. The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has again taken a swipe at Bola Tinubu, former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He insisted that the days of godfatherism in Nigeria were gone and that Lagosians should unseat those still in place. El-Rufai spoke with State House correspondents on Monday after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

7. The organised labour on Monday protested alleged infringement of workers’ rights by Senator Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment. According to reports, Ayuba Wabba, President, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), said the protest was to express their stand against workers’ treatment during a rally at the residence of Ngige on Wednesday in Abuja. The protesting workers held placards with inscriptions like ‘Workers rights to peaceful protest and picketing are not negotiable’ and ‘Picketing is lawful while thuggery is a crime’ among others.

8. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that it remitted N5 billion to the Federal Government’s purse after the conduct of its 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This is contained in the board’s weekly bulletin, signed by the JAMB Head of Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, on Monday in Lagos. Benjamin explained later in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the Federal Government gave N2 billion out of the N5 billion back to the board to enhance its operations.

9. Zainab Aliyu, the Nigerian student who was detained in Saudi Arabia for alleged drug trafficking, on Monday arrived in Nigeria. Aliyu arrived Nigeria through the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano on Monday. She was released to the Nigerian mission in Saudi Arabia after President Buhari directed Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, to immediately intervene in her case as she was wrongly accused. Aliyu, a 22-year-old student of the Maitama Sule University in Kano, had travelled to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj alongside her mother and sister before her arrest with a banned drug.

10. Godwin Emefiele, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Monday, met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the ASO Villa, Abuja. Emefiele who recently got reappointed as governor of CBN shook hands with the president who congratulated him. The reason for the meeting was not disclosed but their meeting happened almost at the peak of a controversial leaked audio exposing an alleged missing N500 billion under Emefiele’s watch.

1. The US Embassy, on Tuesday announced the indefinite suspension of interview waivers for renewals, otherwise known as the “Dropbox” process.

A statement on its website noted that visa applications will no longer be accepted by DHL in Nigeria.

2. The Hope Democratic Party, HDP, has appealed to the Presidential Election Tribunal to restrain President Muhammadu Buhari from his inauguration on May 29.

HDP made the appeal in a motion filed before the tribunal, which is also seeking an order restraining the Chief Justice of Nigeria from swearing-in, administering the oath of office and oath of allegiance to the president on May 29th, 2019.

3. Kingmakers in the Kano emirate, had filed a case against the Governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje, for splitting the emirate.

In the suit, with number K/197/2019 filed on Tuesday at a State High Court, Ganduje, the State House of Assembly, Attorney-General of the state and five others were listed as the defendants.

4. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said he has reviewed the relationship between the executive arm of the government and the outgoing 8th National Assembly and concluded that it was not the best, and that the country deserves more.

He said the nation deserved better than what it got and hoped for a better working relationship between the two arms of government with the forthcoming 9th National Assembly.

5. Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, on Tuesday declared that the fresh investigation of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, was not a witch-hunt.

Magu said the commission does not witch-hunt any government official, irrespective of their political background.

6. The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) said the Speaker of Bayelsa House of Assembly, Kombowei Benson and four other serving and former staff of the assembly will be arraigned in the court on May 22.

Mr. Ibraheem Al-Hassan, the tribunal’s Head, Press & Public Relations said those to be charged alongside the speaker are former Clerk of the Assembly, Aaron Timiye and former Accountant, Thomas Tamaraodubo, NAN reports.

7. The Senate has threatened to shutdown sports betting company, Bet9ja offices if it failed to honour its invitation for a second time.

The lawmakers issued the threat on Tuesday in Abuja during the verification of Loto companies with license to operate in Nigeria.

8. The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has dissociated itself from a document being circulated by a group known as Nigerian Continuity and Progress (NCP) calling for support of a revolution to oust the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government and in its place establish an interim government.

A statement from Navy Captain Muhammed Ahmed Wabi, Deputy Director Defence Information on Tuesday said the AFN outrightly frowned at what it termed “undemocratic and demonic actions of the author of the document.”

9. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Tuesday removed Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State as its Board of Trustees Chairman (BoT).

The party also removed late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s wife, Bianca as a member, alongside others.

10. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has refuted reports that he was set to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, Governor Ortom maintained that he enjoys a robust relationship with other PDP leaders and members at the state and national levels.

1. A group, Access to Justice, on Sunday asked President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa, to step down from the Election Tribunal hearing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar’s petition against the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The justice advocacy group said this had become necessary as Bulkachuwa is married to a Senator-elect on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mohammed Bulkachuwa.

2. Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, Sunday night, presented the staff office to the newly appointed Emir of Gaya, Ibrahim Abdulkadir.

The presentation took place 48 hours after a State High Court stopped the governor, the State House of Assembly and the Attorney-General from implementing the splitting of the Kano Emirate.

3. Wudil indigenes in Kano State have appealed to the State House of Assembly and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to revisit the recent creation of Gaya Emirate Council under which they have been grouped.

Alhaji Yawale Muhammad-Idris, spokesman of the indigenes, who made the call shortly after a stakeholders’ meeting on Sunday in Wudil, headquarters of Wudil Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, appealed to the State Government to return them to the old Kano Emirate where they rightly belong.

4. The Director, Corporate Communications, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Mr Isaac Okoroafor has said that no money is missing or stolen from the bank’s coffers as reported in some section of the media.

Okoroafor said this in a statement on Sunday while reacting to a recent article and audio clips in which the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and other senior officials were heard discussing discrepancies in the bank’s accounts.

5. Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a policeman and a soldier for illegal possession of ammunition.

Col. Sagir Musa, the Acting Director Army Public Relations in a statement said that a Mobile policeman, Sgt. Markus John, with number PNo 383106 was arrested at Njimtilo check point on Maiduguri-Damaturu road, while on transit to Lagos.

6. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has recalled the 12 suspended Local Government Council Chairmen.

They are heads of Okrika, Emohua, Abua/Odual, Degema, Khana, Gokana, Ahoada East, Ikwerre, Eleme, Andoni, Omuma and Ogu/Bolo Local Government Areas.

7. Former Governor of old Anambra State, Jim Nwobodo, has revealed why Nigeria will never have peace.

Nwobodo said peace will continue to elude Nigeria until somebody from the Igbo extraction is allowed to become president.

8. ISIL has claimed killing of 11 Nigerian soldiers in an attack on the northeastern town of Gajiganna, Borno.

Reports said that the group made the claim at the weekend through its news agency, AMAQ.

9. Outgoing Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has claimed that the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, once sent his DSS detail to insult him.

Okorocha said he had gone to interact with his party Chairman about issues relating to happenings in the party when he (Oshiomhole) sent his DSS personnel to push him out of his office.

10. Manchester City are champions of England again.

Pep Guardiola’s men, who won the title last season, came from a goal down to defeat Brighton 4-1 at the Amex Stadium.
