There is serious tension in Ogwashi-Uku community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State as gunmen trailed and shot dead a senior administrative staff of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Mr. John Chukwudi, at a relaxation spot.

It was learnt that the gunmen, who shot sporadically in the area, made residents scamper for safety.

The assailants also ensured that the deceased died before they left the scene.

When contacted, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke confirmed the report, saying information about the incident was still scanty.

CP Adeleke added that the command has launched investigation just as he pointed out that the deceased was an administrative staff of the polytechnic and not a lecturer.

Also, the Public Relations Officer of the polytechnic, Manfred Oyibode confirmed the killing.

Oyibode added that the police were already handling the matter hence, “It will not be wise for me to make categorical statement on it now”.

Man whose wife disappeared during their?honeymooned has been?sentenced to 8 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter
A man whose wife disappeared while they honeymooned at sea has been sentenced by a federal judge to eight years in prison for involuntary manslaughter.

Lewis Bennett, 42, apologized to the family of Isabella Hellman during a Tuesday hearing before U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno in Miami. He waived his right to appeal.

Defense attorneys sought a 7-year sentence, a year lower than the maximum number spelled out in a plea agreement reached last November. Bennett was originally charged with murder, with investigators alleging he intentionally tried to sink the boat, but later dropped the charges.  "It's not because I expect that he will commit this crime again," Judge Moreno said. "Sentencing is for punishment."

Before Moreno announced his decision, Bennett, a dual citizen of Australia and the United Kingdom, asked the judge that he let him get out of prison sooner so he could continue to raise the couple's daughter, who was an infant when the mother vanished. Emelia Bennett turns 3 in July and is being raised by his parents in Scotland.

"If you may permit me to be with my daughter as soon as possible," Bennett said. "I want to bring her up in a manner that is respectful to my wife's wishes." But Moreno sided with prosecutors and chose eight years in prison as the sentence and three years on supervised release.

Hellman disappeared as the couple sailed off the Bahamas in May 2017. A statement from the U.S. Attorney's office says Bennett had experience sailing, including training on emergency procedures and had previously traveled from St. Marteen to Australia. His wife, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Cuba, had not trained in emergency sailing procedures and had less experience, prosecutors said.

The couple had been married for three months when they set sail to St. Marteen, Puerto Rico and Cuba for a delayed honeymoon in late April. After they left Cuba on May 14, Bennett asked Hellman take over control of the boat for the night so he could go rest in the boat's cabin, according to court documents. He didn't require her to wear a life jacket, harness or personal locator, prosecutors said in the statement.

He said he woke up when the craft hit something, and Hellman was missing. Assistant U.S. attorney Kurt Lunkenheimer said on Tuesday that Bennett "did not search for her diligently enough despite him being an experienced sailor."

The Court of Appeal in Cross River State, has affirmed the death sentence by hanging of one Godwin Elewana, a retired staff of NNPC, for shooting to death, a 22-year old, Douglas Ojugbo, in 2015.

Elewana who shot and killed Douglas Ojugbo whom he suspected was having an affair with his daughter, Mercy, on March 10, 2015, was sentenced to death by hanging in a judgement that was passed on Wednesday 21st March, 2018 in the Federal High Court.

He, however, approached the Court of Appeal in Calabar, where Hon Justice Y. Nimpar, in his judgment, on Wednesday, upheld the decision of the High Court.

When the initial judgment was passed in 2018, mother of the deceased, Maria Ojugbo, said, “I thank God for doing what should be done. It is stated in the Bible that anyone who kills by the sword, will die by the sword. Elewana had no reason whatsoever to kill my son in such a manner and conceal the act by burying him.   "We will track down the killers of Prophet Nwoko" - Biafra group

Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has stated that it will not relent in the ongoing hunt for the alleged murderers of late pro-Biafra Prophet, Anthony Nwoko.

The group, in a statement on Wednesday, signed by its Acting Leader and Head of Operations, Ebuta Victor Takon, claimed that the killers of the prophet were six in number, and vowed to track them down.

BNYL was reacting to the recent statement from the indicted Chief Security of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Enugu chapter, Victor Egede, who denied involvement in the killing.

Egede had said he never knew late Nwoko until his death.

But reacting to his claim, Takon, said his group will not go back to its word in hunting down the killers.

Takon said he relied on the investigation of the group made public by the BNYL Leader, Princewill C Richard.

He also said that pro-Biafran groups were not at war with each other.

According to him, “I don’t care how they view it, I know this is what the enemies want to hear.

“They have succeeded in sponsoring some pro-Biafrans against their colleagues, but will fail.”

He said the report circulating online that the group was hunting IPOB members was false.
“We are not after the innocent but from intelligent information leaked to us, we are working on tracking the killers, they were six in number and all with matchets.”

According to reports, the incident reportedly happened in Gabon. The deceased who is reported to be a sergeant in the Gabonese army died immediately after the knife attack by his jealous wife in their room. He wasn’t even taken to the hospital.
During interrogation, the woman allegedly confessed that she killed him for cheating on her and having a baby behind her back. Taking advantage that he was asleep on Wednesday night, the scorned woman inflicted several stab wounds on the man which led to his death.
Ibe Caleb shared photos of the incident on Facebook and wrote;
Now she will spend the rest of her life in a military prison without a child of her own. The man though dead, has a child to carry on his name. Stupid actions degat dare consequences  You would have asked yourself what is really important and then have the courage to build your life around your answer instead of killing him  there are better ways of getting back to people than killing them…now you’ll cool off in prison.
That wasn’t the best thing to do but y will a married man keep a secret child in the first place.. If he had the child before the wedlock what prevented him from telling his wife. if he had it after wedlock then he brought the stabbing upon himself

Shocking: CCTV Footage Caught A Boyfriend Dragging A Suitcase Containing His Girlfriend's Body
A 19-year-old student from Hong Kong has been arrested after allegedly killing his 20-year-old girlfriend during a romantic holiday trip.

Chilling surveillance footage has emerged which apparently shows the boyfriend dragging a pink suitcase thought to contain her corpse out of the hotel and into a metro station before taking a train to dump the body.

The suspect, Chan Tung-kai, has admitted to the police that he strangled his girlfriend, Poon Hiu-wing, after having an argument with her when they were travelling together in Taiwan last month, according to Hong Kong newspaper The Standard

Chan and Poon, both university students, reportedly went to Taiwan to celebrate the Valentine's Day, according to The Standard.

The couple had apparently dated for about a year. On Poon's last public post on Facebook on November 15, 2017, the young woman wrote: 'He said I am his first and last girlfriend.'

Taipei police said they arrived in Taiwan on February 8, and on February 13 they visited several places before checking into the Purple Garden Hotel in Taipei, reported Taipei Times.

However, on February 17 Chan checked out the hotel alone and went back to Hong Kong alone.

It's said the victim's father became suspicious and asked Chan where his daughter was, but Chan claimed that they had had an argument and parted ways in Taiwan. Chan allegedly told Poon's father he did not know Poon's whereabouts.

Poon's father then filed a missing person's report to the Hong Kong police, who then sought help from their counterpart in Taiwan.

Poon's body was found on the night of March 13 - about a month after the couple had travelled to Taiwan together. The body was found outside Zhuwei metro station in Taipei, reported The Standard.

Surveillance camera footage shows the couple returning to their hotel after midnight on February 17, which believed to be the last time Poon was soon.

And around midday, Chan was seen lugging a large pink suitcase out of Purple Garden Hotel and taking the metro. The suitcase appeared to be heavy.

It's believed that Poon's corpse was in the suitcase at the time and was later disposed after Chan got off the metro.

Taipei Times reported that Chan returned to the hotel without the suitcase that evening before checking out. The police believed he had thrown away the suitcase at another location.

Apparently, Chan carried on using Poon's bank card to withdraw money after Poon had died. Police said Chan used Poon's card once on February 17 in Taiwan and once on February 20 in Hong Kong.

Chan was arrested in Hong Kong on the night of March 13, according to Hong Kong's Apple Daily

The same report said Chan confessed that he had killed his girlfriend in a fit of rage. It remains unclear what had caused the couple to argue.

Chan has been charged with two counts of theft and one count of handling of stolen goods by the Hong Kong authority. No charges of murder has been made.

According to Taipei Times, authorities in Hong Kong and Taiwan are under negotiation concerning the transfer of Chan from Hong Kong to Taipei for investigation.
