PDP fixes date for Kogi, Bayelsa guber primaries ahead of Nov 16 polls
The National
Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced
preparation for Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections.
Adeyemi Moyegun,
PDP Deputy Director, Mobilization and Organisations made the announcement on
Sunday.
A terse statement
he signed said the party has approved Tuesday September 3, 2019 for the
gubernatorial primary elections in both Kogi and Bayelsa states.
It added that “The
Ward Congresses to elect the Ad-Hoc Delegates is Scheduled for Thur. Aug. 22,
2019, while LGA Congresses for National Delegates will take place on Mon. Aug.
26, 2019.
“Full time-table
will be released once same is approved by NWC.”
In May, the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced shift
of date for the polls to November 16, from November 2.
According to the
amended timetable and schedule of activities signed by Secretary to the
Commission, Mrs Rose Oriaran-Anthony, notice for the elections would be
released on August 17.
Collection of forms
CF001 and CF002 by political parties from INEC has been slated for August 18,
while the conduct of parties primaries would hold from August 18 to September
5.
Also, election
campaign would commence August 18, while October 2 would be the last day for
submission of nomination forms. Political campaigns ends November 14.
Abacha: APC explodes over Bode George, Kola Abiola’s claims against
Tinubu
The All
Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday reacted angrily to recent comments by MKO
Abiola’s son, Kola, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Bode George,
that ex-governor Bola Tinubu
begged the late Gen. Sani Abacha for the post of a commissioner in Lagos State.
Joe Igbokwe, APC
Publicity Secretary in Lagos, in a statement quoted Kola saying “It was after
Tinubu had lost out that he decided to join hands with the National Democratic
Coalition for the actualization of June 12 mandate.”
Igbokwe, in his
reaction, said although APC did not find the need to “dignify a collapsed and a
failed politician in Lagos or a little kid without sense of history with a
response at a time like this, but we changed our mind because we do not want to
allow lies to be told a thousand times so that some people will not believe it
as the truth.”
He noted that
before the annulment of June 12 1993 Presidential Elections Governors, Senators,
House of Reps Members, State Assembly members had been in place and Tinubu was
one of the elected Senators from Lagos.
The spokesman
quipped: “Now how can an elected Senator be asking for a mere appointment as
Commissioner? Does it make sense to anybody who is privileged to be a sensible
person?”
“In one breath the
story tellers said Asiwaju asked for the post of a commissioner and in another
they told us he wanted to be Deputy Sole Administrator Of Lagos. Now, do we
have anything like Deputy Sole Administrator then? Was it in existence? Are
they not liars from the pit of hell?”
“We do understand
the reason why Chief Bode George always have this penchant to get at Asiwaju
Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the drop of a hat and even when it is not necessary. The gap
between Asiwaju BAT and Chief Bode George in terms of political sagacity,
leadership, achievements, follower ship, capacity, acceptance, credibility etc
is a huge one in favour of Asiwaju.
“Asiwaju has been
defeating and crushing Chief Bode George in every election in Lagos for 20
years and the world knows that George has been an unhappy man for 20 years. How
can anyone in all honesty expect Chief Bode George to celebrate his potential
political enemy?”
“Chief Bode George
has found himself in a miserable political position in Nigeria in the past 20
years and everybody knows that Asiwaju kept him in that miserable situation and
only a baby will think that he will be fair to Asiwaju in anything at all.
“While it is
possible for Chief Bode George to work so hard to get to Asiwaju’s level in the
next 20 years it is difficult if not impossible to bring Asiwaju to Bode
George’s pathetic Level in order to bridge the gap”
“Lagos APC thinks
that it is high time Chief Bode George took time to reflect on his poor and
unpleasant politics in Lagos and the South West in the past 20 years and try to
amends his ways for the better.
“An Igbo adage says
when an old woman falls down two times on her way to the market she is bound to
count what is remaining in her basket. Time has come for Chief Bode George to
take stock and do a sober reflection on his political career.”
Peter Obi, Nuhu Ribadu, others in presidential election tribunal as
hearing begins
The running mate to
the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi is
currently present at the hearing session of the petition filed before
presidential election tribunal against the declaration of President Muhammadu
Buhari as the winner of the 2019 presidential election.
It would be
recalled that Obi ran a joint ticket with the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku
Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election.
Also present in the
court is a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, and a commissioner at the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC)
Wole Olanipekun
while moving an objection on the preliminary application filed by President
Buhari on his qualification said the application have been filed and served to
all parties involved in the matter.
But drama ensued
after a counsel who identified himself as Poland standing in for the Hope
Democratic Party announced his appearance over which attracted a vehement
objection to his claim.
However, President
of the Tribunal, Mohammed Lawal Garba further urged all parties involved to
privately sort out the issues of representation.
Garba also
announced that all preliminary applications pending before the court would be
heard on June 13.
Meanwhile, the
tribunal has just gone into the preliminary part of the substantive matter.
Release names of governors diverting LG funds – PDP governors dare
Buhari
The Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has declared that none of its members is
involved in the alleged diversion of funds meant for local government
administration in their states.
While condemning
the suppression of local government through funds diversion, the governors
challenged the Federal Government to publish names of state governors found
culpable.
This was part of
the resolutions made at the first post inauguration meeting of the PDP
Governors Forum held at the Bayelsa State governor’s lodge in Abuja Thursday
night.
Reading the
communique of the marathon meeting on Friday morning, Bayelsa State governor,
Seriake Dickson, the chairman of the forum, said the PDP governors condemned
the issue of local government funds diversion in strong term.
He said, “We dealt
with the allegation of alleged diversion of local government funds by state
governments. And we condemned it in very strong term, we as governors on the
platform of the PDP want to make it clear that no PDP governor is involved in
this allegation of diverting local government funds for whatever purpose.
“In our case, the
reverse is the case. It is the state government that have been supporting and
subsidizing funding for the local government. So we call on the federal
government and agency in charge to name the state governments and tell us the
date and the people who were in charged as the time when this diversion took
place.”
The governors, also
at the meeting, declared their readiness to implement and pay the new N30,000
minimum wage to workers in their states while calling on Federal Government to
review the current revenue sharing formula.
He said the PDP
governors want to do so “to alleviate the plight of the long suffering Nigeria
workers who have been under paid for long. And the workers who are currently
groaning in economic hardship as a result of what has gone wrong with the
economy since the APC government took over.”
Speaking on the
suspension of the operating license of AIT and RayPower FM radio stations by
the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation on Thursday, the governors condemned the
act and urged the Federal Government to reopen the stations.
“The forum note the
shocking intolerance and act of repression against the media by the federal
government. This evening, as you are aware DAAR Communications we understand
has been closed down. And our position is that due process must be followed.
“If there are any
allegation of infraction, then due processes of the law should take place.
Because when you short down news outlet, when you harass and intimidate
journalists, then you are shutting down Nigerians from speaking their minds.
And in democracy, freedom of expression is cardinal component.
“So we condemn what
has taken place and we urge the federal government and its agency to forthwith,
do what is right. That is reopen the company and follow the due process of the
law,” he said.
The forum also
commended the judiciary for exhibiting uncommon courage and for professionally
discharging their responsibilities under the constitution to adjudicate
dispute, adding that they are doing so under a very difficult time.
The governors
expressed deep concern over the politicisation of the security apparatus in
states by the federal government and its agencies, essentially in states not
controlled by the ruling APC.
While believing
that this is the reason for the widespread insecurity in the country, the
governors resolved to take some of this issues up when they interact with the
President Muhammadu Buhari.
The forum
congratulated the party over an impressive outing in the last general
elections, and congratulated returning and new governors, National and State
assemblies members both outgoing and new, elected on the platform of the PDP.
The meeting had in
attendance all the 16 PDP governors except the Benue State governor, Samuel
Ortom, who was represented by his deputy.
Also in attendance
were the National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, the party’s BoT
chairman, Senator Jubril Walid, outgoing Senate President Bukola Saraki and his
counterpart in the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.
9th Assembly: PDP Reps members speak on endorsing Gbajabiamila for
Speakership
Members of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives have debunked
media reports that they had endorsed Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila or any other
candidate for the speakership position for the incoming 9th National Assembly.
The House Minority
Leader, Hon. Leo Ogor, in a statement on Thursday, described such reports as
the handiwork of propagandists and mischief-makers, clarifying that PDP
lawmakers had neither endorsed Gbajabiamila nor any other speakership candidate
for that matter.
“In our
Eid-el-Fitri message, we felicitated with all our Muslim brothers and sisters
across Nigeria, and emphasised the significance of worthy virtues, stating that
our members may participate in meetings, strategy sessions and other activities
of speakership aspirants to come back to the caucus with convincing
assessments.
“While some
publications disseminated accurate and objective report, few others fabricated
a completely new angle with one even using a deliberately fictitious and
grossly erroneous headline in a manner that suggests being used for the ruling
party’s usual misinformation and propaganda.
“Contrary to what
has been sensationally reported by some, at no time did we give our members a
directive to vote for any APC speakership aspirant; I hereby categorically
dissociate myself and the PDP House caucus from the false comments being
attributed to us as participation in meetings should not be deliberately
misinterpreted as a directive on voting,” Ogor said.
The minority leader
pointed out that the PDP House caucus has remained solidly united although it
has continued to grant audience to various speakership aspirants who are
currently consulting them.
9th Assembly: Secondus speaks on crisis in PDP over election of NASS
leadership
The Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) has said there was no crisis within its ranks or any form
of division over the choice of the 9th National Assembly leadership by its
members.
The PDP National
Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, said members of the National Assembly would
decide who led them without any interference.
A terse statement
by Mr. Ike Abonyi, Special Adviser on Media to Secondus, said the National
Working Committee (NWC) was not compelling any of its lawmakers in the choice
of the new leadership.
He said, “It is
incumbent on the lawmakers themselves to elect whoever they like. So, the national
leadership of the party will not compel them to do otherwise.”
He said the party
was resolute in contributing to nation-building and ensuring that Nigeria
became a better place for all.
“Our members in the
National Assembly will determine what happens and inform the NWC of their
decision,” he said.
‘Withdraw Itse Sagay’s SAN title’ – Lagos PDP tells LPPC, others
The Peoples
Democratic Party in Lagos State has charged the Legal Practitioners Privileges
Committee (LPPC) and the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee of the
Nigerian Bar Association and the courts to withdraw all the privileges that
Prof Itse Sagay enjoys as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The party, in a
statement yesterday by its state Publicity Secretary, Mr Taofik Gani, also
called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately replace Sagay as the
Chairman of the committee.
According to the
Lagos PDP, the security agencies must arrest, interrogate and prosecute Sagay
for his comments allegedly capable of provoking civil unrests in the country.
Sagay had faulted
Supreme Court’s rulings, which upheld
the PDP as the winner of the 2019 general elections in Rivers and Zamfara
states, and barred the All Progressives Congress from contesting offices.
But Gani said,
“Prof Sagay exposed his hatred for the PDP when he described the Supreme Court
judgment by positing that ‘in the next four years, Zamfara State will be
governed by a party and politicians rejected by the electorate.’
“To the PDP, these
words and stance are inciting and unbecoming of a senior lawyer and must be
taken seriously as professional misconduct within the contemplation of Section
24(1)(a) and (b) of the rules of professional conduct.
“To us as a party
in Lagos State and from where most of these false activists speak, Prof Sagay
is no more a fit and proper personality to head a presidential advisory
committee against corruption. We charge the LPPC, the LPDC, the NBA and the courts
to withdraw all privileges Prof Itse Sagay enjoys as a SAN.”
Gani said Sagay had
showed enough obvious partisanship and support for the APC, adding that one
needed not wonder why all the APC chieftains were “saints” before the Sagay-led
PACAC.
He said, “With
Sagay as an adviser, the advised is at his own risk. It is very laughable that
Sagay attempts to be an appellate court to the Supreme Court.”
Earlier, the PDP
had accused the PACAC chairman of instigating anarchy and rebellion against
constitutional democratic order and reule of law.
Inauguration: Our Governors will deliver – PDP govs’ forum assures
The Chairman, PDP
Governors’ Forum, Gov. Seriake Dickson, says governors elected on the platform
of the party will deliver the dividends of democracy and good governance in
their states.
Dickson, who is
also the governor of Bayelsa, gave the assurance in a statement issued by the
forum’s secretariat on Friday in Abuja.
Dickson
congratulated members of the forum for their successful swearing in.
He expressed
confidence that PDP-controlled states in particular, and Nigeria in general,
would benefit immensely from the governors’ wealth of experience as they assume
office.
Dickson however
urged the PDP governors to ensure that they fulfill their campaign promises.
“We count on your
good office to enhance a strong working relationship between your State and the
PDP Governors’ Forum,” he said.
He prayed God to
continue to guide, protect and bless the governors and their families.
“May God grant them
reigns of wisdom, good health and the focus to excel in the selfless service to
their States, the great party – PDP, and our dear country, Nigeria,” he said.

congratulated PDP-controlled states for their successful inauguration
ceremonies held on Wednesday.
Ekiti: How Fayose caused PDP’s failure in guber election – Officials
Officials of the
Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has blamed the
party’s failure in the last governorship election in the state on the immediate
past governor, Ayodele Fayose.
The party
chieftains said Fayose’s alleged dictatorial tendencies and high handedness in
running the affairs of the party without consultation caused the party’s defeat
in the last election.
The allegation was
contained in a report jointly signed by PDP Ekiti State Repositioning Committee
Chairman and Secretary Hon. Kehinde Odebunmi and Hon. Oladipo Ebenezer
respectively and presented to concerned Party’s Stakeholders on Thursday at
Ifaki-Ekiti area of the state, The Nation reports.
The stakeholders
said the State Working Committee of the party was a titular body which was
never in control of the party’s affairs but was being teleguided by the former
governor.
According to the
report: “We submit that imposition of candidate in our party, PDP is inimical
to the progress our party. That this has bred indiscipline among members and
has caused low morale among the discipline members.
“That the former
governor, Ayo Fayose campaigned against the PDP and its candidate in the last
election and he has not been checked or sanctioned by the party’s NWC.
“That the
stakeholders resolved that the status of the party secretariat which is under
construction should be disclosed by the SWC of our party to all party members
in Ekiti State.
“That the PDP were
all aware is the party to beat in Ekiti State but has to be restructured and
allow discipline to remain supreme.”
Benue South: Abba Moro wins
as Supreme Court dismisses Joe Ojobo’s appeal
The Supreme Court
on Tuesday dismissed a case brought before it by Joe Ojobo over the outcome of
the October 2018 senatorial primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party,
PDP, in Benue South.
Justices of the
apex court validated the nomination of Comrade Moro as the authentic candidate
of the PDP for the Benue South senatorial district.
Hon Ojobo had gone
to the court to challenge the declaration of Comrade Moro, winner of the
primary election.
In a unanimous
decision, the five-member panel of judges led by Justice Bode Rhodes Vivour,
dismissed the petition for lacking in substance and upheld the decisions the
court of first instance and the appellate court.
Justice Amina
Augie, who read the judgement of the court went through the main points of the
judgement from the High Court and held that the appellant was not declared
winner after the primaries of October 4 because the margin of lead which stood
at 50 votes was less than the number of delegates from the three local
government areas that didn’t vote (358).
She affirmed that
INEC monitored both the inconclusive primaries of October 4th and the
concluding part of October 7th which conferred legitimacy on them both.
Justice Augie
further stated that section 87 (4) (c) of the electoral act says, “at the end
of voting” and so voting was not concluded on October 4th.
She said there’s
nowhere in the electoral act where it is stated that a primary election must be
held in one full swoop.
She dismissed the
appeal and said details of the judgement will be made available on a later
date.
Sokoto: Tambuwal blows hot
over ‘plot to stop his second term inauguration’
The Sokoto State
Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has vowed to resist any attempt to stop his
inauguration for second term in office.
In a statement
yesterday by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Alhaji Yusuf
Dingyadi, the governor alleged of plots to cause political chaos in the state.
He said that
certain individuals were spreading lies and creating confusion that the court
was going to remove him from office and give power to the APC.
Tambuwal added that
his posters along Birnin Kebbi Road, Maiduguri Road, Airport Road and some
other areas within the metropolis had been removed and replaced with those of
the APC governorship candidate.
Tambuwal stressed
that only legal means could stop his government.
The statement
reads, “Election is over, we have won the election and we have offered a hand
of fellowship, we asked them to come so that we develop Sokoto State, they
refused and went to court, why can’t they allow the court to pass its verdict?
“You can’t take
your case to court and start making political noise and telling people lies
when even the court has not started its own assignment.
“We are still in
the process of pre-hearing, we didn’t even get to the time witnesses are called
to testify on the election manipulation they alleged, yet they have started
going round telling people lies, especially in the rural areas, they want to
show that government is coming to them.”
The governor
advised the opposition to allow the court to do their work.
He continued, “PDP
in Sokoto is not looking for any backdoor judgement. You allow the court to do
what is needful, we have confidence in court because we won election with
divine intervention.”
He called on law
enforcement agencies in Sokoto to stop what he described as political rascality
in Sokoto State.
“We don’t want any
political crisis, we don’t want any tension in Sokoto, Sokoto people are
peace-loving, we call on security agents to investigate and find out the
sponsors of the political rascality in the state,” he said.
Justice Abang: PDP reacts
as court rules on Akpabio’s claim on expulsion from party
The Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, in Akwa Ibom State has described as shameful and
dishonorable Senator Godswill Akpabio’s claim that he never defected but moved
to the All Progressives Congress as a result of him being expelled from PDP at
the ward level.
Senator Godswill
Akpabio had told with evidence the Federal High Court in Abuja that his
expulsion from PDP was what compelled him to move to the APC in August 2018.
In his ruling, the
trial Judge, Justice Okon Abang on Friday said that the senator only “moved to
join APC out of frustration of being expelled by the PDP through a letter dated
August 2, 2018”.
The judge held that
having been expelled from PDP, Akpabio was at liberty to join another political
party of his choice and any attempt to declare his seat vacant as requested by
the plaintiff, Legal Defence and Assistant Project would be to punish him for
exercising his right to freedom of association under section 40 of the
Constitution.
The plaintiff had
anchored its suit on section 68(1)(g) of the Constitution which provides that
the seat of a legislator who defects from his or her party without any division
in the party before the end of the tenure for which the party sponsors the
lawmaker’s election shall be declared vacant.
Justice Abang held
that the provision of section 68(1)(g) of the Constitution was not applicable
to Akpabio, who “neither defected nor decamped” but only moved from the PDP
following his expulsion.
Irked by Senator
Akpabio’s submission, the PDP in the state said such claim was totally false
and shameful.
In a statement
signed by the publicity secretary, Ini Emembong and sent to journalists in Uyo,
the PDP argued that it was impossible for Senator Akpabio to have been expelled
by the party, without the approval of the State Executive Committee of the
party.
Ememobong
maintained that there was no record showing the existence of such a punitive
move undertaken against the senator by his ward or chapter executive.
He also alleged
that Senator Akpabio conspired with Ntiedo Usoro, the then Chapter Chairman of
Essien Udim to illegally write a letter of expulsion to him and backdate same,
adding that Ntiedo having completed his assignment, later defected and joined
Chief Akpabio in the APC.
The statement reads
in part, “The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has read
a news item flowing from the judgement of a Federal High Court sitting in
Abuja, presided over by Justice Abang wherein the trial judge held that Senator
Akpabio led evidence to show that he was expelled from the People’s Democratic
Party and therefore was justified in law in ‘moving’ to the APC.
“We state that
nothing can be farther from the truth than the transparent lie of expulsion
shamelessly spewed by Chief Akpabio. We make bold to state that at no time was
Chief Akpabio suspended or expelled from the party. Chief Akpabio had announced
to the world on August 8,2018 that he was defecting from the PDP to the APC in
pursuit of National interest and to stem the tide of defections at the National
Assembly. In fact, at different campaigns, he mocked the PDP as being empty since
his uncommon defection . At no time did he mention the issue of expulsion,
which has now become his creation as a lame defence to keep his seat. He
conspired with Ntiedo Usoro, the then Chapter Chairman of Essien Udim to
illegally write a letter of expulsion to him and back date same. The said
Ntiedo having completed his assignment, later defected and joined Chief Akpabio
in the APC.
“There is no way
that Senator Akpabio could have been expelled by the party, without the
concurrence of the State Executive Committee of the party. There is no record
showing the existence of such a punitive move undertaken against the senator by
his ward or chapter executive council. Expulsion is a process and not an event.
We know that the disgraced senator is running from his shadows and questioning
karma, as his conscience is putting him to remembrance of how he masterminded
the suspension and eventual expulsion of his predecessor, Obong Victor Attah
from the Party(though the act was reversed by the National Exco of the party).
His successor, Governor Udom Emmanuel and the incumbent party leadership under
Obong Paul Ekpo have decidedly made themselves unavailable for karma to use
against him.
“We warn Senator
Akpabio to desist forthwith from including the PDP in his serial lies. He is
history to us, for all we care and soon, will be history to his Senatorial
District- people who have sent the disgraced senator on compulsory political
retirement.
“A brave man should
prepare to face the natural consequences of his actions and not to engage in
perennial doublespeak, disgraceful pendulum motion and irreverent redefinition
of established terms.”
Fani-Kayode reacts to
alleged plot by Atiku to ‘overthrow’ Buhari govt
Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation
has reacted to the recent claims by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led
administration and the military that certain persons were planning to overthrow
the government.
Minister of Information, Lai Mohamed, had
said that Atiku
and his party, were doing everything to overheat the polity.
Mohammed further described their alleged
actions as an act of treason.
However, in response to the claims, Atiku
Abubakar in a statement by his media aide, Mazi Paul Ibe, described
the allegations as all lies.
Fani-Kayode reacting to the claims on his
Twitter page said only soldiers can overthrow the government, not politicians.
The former minister wrote: “Atiku and PDP is
plotting to overthrow the Government in a military coup”- Lai Mohammed,
Minister of Information.
“The Bible says, “the wicked run even when
no-one is pursuing them.
“As far as I am aware, politicians don’t plan
and execute coups: soldiers do.”
Nigeria Insecurity: APC chieftain,
Iheme blames PDP over insurgency, killings in Nigeria
The Abia North Senatorial candidate of the Accord
Party (AP) in the just-concluded February 23 National Assembly election and
now, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Chief Onyekachi Iheme,
has slammed the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the insecurity
threatening the unity and corporate existence of Nigeria.
Iheme insisted that the upsurge in
insurgency, banditry and kidnapping in most parts of the country were as a
result of the sixteen years failed leadership of PDP.
According to DAILY POST, the APC chieftain, who spoke in a telephone
interview on Sunday night, also insisted that the former ruling
party failed to tackle the insurgencies headlong when it started under its
watch.
He opined that the APC-led federal government
commitment in fighting and ridding Nigeria of corruption deteriorated the
insecurity in the land.
His words, “It is the product of the failed
PDP leadership. What you are seeing now is the result of the failure of the PDP
leadership to give the country a direction. So, people were doing what they
liked, benefitting what they did not work for. You will agree with me that this
issue of insurgency, terrorism banditry and kidnapping did not just start from
the present President Muhammadu Buhari-led government. You will also agree with
me that the insecurity got worsened during the Presidency of Goodluck Jonathan.
“Today, we are witnessing direct assault on
insurgency, because, the federal government is committed to fighting
insecurity. The government is making every effort to ensure that the insurgency
does not last longer. Normally, it had to get this high to come low. This is

Jonathan has revealed why the former caretaker committee Chairman of the
opposition Peoples Democratic Party is defecting to the All Progressives
Congress,APC.
Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, is
expected to rejoin the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) today.
Omokri in reaction on his Twitter page said Sheriff
is defecting to APC in order not to be added to the looter’s list.
The former presidential spokesman wrote, “I congratulate
former unwanted factional chairman of PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff, on his return to
his natural habitat, APC. Sheriff is wise.
“With allegations against him and as soon to be
released looters list round the corner, he has carried the broom so his problems
will passover!
Recall that the Minister of Information,
Lai Mohammed had said the federal government is compiling
fresh names of people alleged to have looted the nation’s treasury.
The Nigerian Government had already released two
lists comprising mostly members of main opposition Peoples Democratic Party,
PDP.
